Many actual NYC residents believe over-development has been ratcheted up to out-of-control levels. Because so many of us feel this way, we at The Morning Show feel it’s our obligation to try and keep up with all the goings-on, and have increased our focus and time spent discussing this topic. Whether it’s because of Mayor de Blasio’s rezonings--you heard about Inwood last week--or under the guise of ‘affordable housing,’ and even through the sale of air rights, what many of us experience now are the myriad of related effects on our daily lives--things like school or transit overcrowding and insufficient infrastructures to accommodate so much construction and new population. Blocking of the sun and an impact on our air and light quality are new realities. With me to discuss this unbridled development is longtime community activist, Olive Freud, president of the Committee for Environmentally Sound Development.
